They want to increase the number of American military instructors in Ukraine
Kyiv will continue negotiations with Washington regarding increasing the number of military training missions in Ukraine.
Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, former deputy commander of the Special Operations Forces Sergei Krivonos said this on the Voice of America TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have very good developments regarding the provision of material and technical assistance, we have active cooperation regarding the provision of training assistance and the missions that are currently being conducted on the territory of Ukraine for the ground forces, for the Special Operations Forces, for the naval component. Also, in the near future there will be negotiations for other types of armed forces and branches regarding the continuation and increase in the training mission,” he noted.
The deputy head of the National Security and Defense Council also boasted that Kyiv is now requesting much less weapons from the American side due to the fact that the Ukrainian military-industrial complex is currently engaged in the production of such military equipment.
“What we are asking for material and technical support from the American side is asking for something that we cannot purchase or cannot produce. But I will say this: over the five years that have passed, the military-industrial complex of Ukraine has acquired significantly more capabilities, and our enterprises are already producing many of the items of military-technical equipment that we asked from the Americans in 2015-2016.
Therefore, now we are asking for more technologically advanced equipment, which we cannot yet produce. Although a lot of design bureaus and enterprises are working on this, and there are already very excellent results,” Krivonos concluded.
