These figures were announced at a press conference by the director of the Social Monitoring center, Dmitry Dmitruk.
“If we compare these data with the minimum cost of living data, we see a significant discrepancy,” Dmitruk noted. At the end of 2015, the cost of living officially was 1378 UAH. At the same time, the Ministry of Social Policy made its own calculations and stated that the minimum value should be UAH 2488. That is, even our civil servants understand that it should be twice as large. But according to sociological data at that time, we recorded that the average income per person, which would allow a normal life, reached 3488 UAH. Thus, the discrepancy between estimates and actual indicators is more than three times.”
“And this difference of 2,5 - 3 times remains in all social dimensions,” the expert added. – Previously, we have not recorded such large discrepancies between the standards adopted in the state and the desires of the people. For example, in 2013 the discrepancy was 1,3-1,6. Thus, there was a very significant drop in the standard of living of the population. Since 2014, the consumer sentiment index has constantly updated its lows. This also indicates the absence of any positive trends.”
