“The State Department of the DFS in Kiev reports that since the beginning of the year, taxpayers in the capital have filed 4796 declarations on property status and income for 2014. Thus, according to the data presented, the income of 108 Kiev residents last year exceeded 1 million hryvnia,” reports the press service of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine in Kyiv.
At the same time, according to the Ministry of Revenue and Duties, in 2013 the number of official millionaires in Kyiv was 1803 people, which is 247 people more than in 2012.
The drop in the number of official millionaires by more than 10 times does not indicate a drop in the incomes of wealthy Kiev residents, but rather a sharp withdrawal of funds from Ukraine. Previously, an analysis of declarations submitted by persons with an income of more than one million hryvnia showed that large incomes of Ukrainian millionaires were received from foreign investment activities or from the sale of movable and immovable property.
Experts note that the trend towards a decrease in official millionaires will continue; millionaires will leave Ukraine or transfer their assets to other states.
A decrease in the number of official millionaires will lead to a sharp decrease in budget revenues, as well as to the failure of the “de-shadowing” policy of the Yatsenyuk government.
