The number of Ukrainians with residence permits in Poland has tripled – media
The number of Ukrainian citizens who have received permission to reside in Poland has exceeded 150 thousand people. Thus, this figure has tripled since 2015, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The Role publication Rzeczpospolita writes about this.
According to the publication, most Ukrainians in the neighboring country have temporary residence permits, thanks to which they can stay on Polish territory for up to three years. 115 thousand citizens of Ukraine received this right. These data do not include those people staying in Poland on visas.
Most Ukrainians are in Poland temporarily, having obtained visas to take advantage of simplified access to the labor market. The publication writes that more and more of them want to stay in Poland longer, as evidenced by the increase in the number of applications for residence permits, as well as the number of similar documents already issued.
The publication notes that 60% of Ukrainian citizens with permits are people aged 20-39 years, 27% are 49-59 years old, and 11% are those under 20 years old. At the same time, there are 87,5 thousand men among Ukrainians in Poland, and 63 thousand women. Only 21% of them have permanent residence permits in the neighboring country.
Previously, the National Bank of Poland predicted that by the end of 2020, 200-300 thousand Ukrainians will arrive annually on the Polish labor market.
PolitNavigator also reported that a hotline has been opened in Poland on issues of legal employment and protection of the rights of workers from among Ukrainian citizens. There are cases when Polish employers take advantage of Ukrainian workers, paying them lower wages or not providing adequate working conditions.
