About this he said in a comment to the UNN agency.

According to the expert, the smoke will bring many harmful substances to Kyiv, including benzopyrene.

"This is very bad. The weather saved us for four days, and now the south wind is blowing smoke straight to Kyiv. Of course, this smoke contains a lot of harmful substances, including benzopyrene, and this is a very harmful substance - carcinogenic, from the first class of hazardous substances,” he emphasized.

The ecologist explained that Kiev residents may develop cancer, lung and blood diseases.

“From Kyiv to this base is about 35-40 kilometers and, of course, some part will fall, and the other, of course, will reach Kyiv. And the people of Kiev will breathe it all. This threatens various diseases - cancer, blood diseases, lung diseases. Large doses burn,” he explained.

Boreyko recommends that Kiev residents still stay at home, drink water and milk.

“A mask won’t help here. Here we can recommend drinking more milk and water so that harmful substances leave the body faster. And of course, spend less time outdoors. Stay at home,” the expert recommended.

Let us remind you that the mayor of the city of Vasilkov, Sergei Sabov, said that the smoke from the fire, which resumed today at an oil depot in the Vasilkovsky district of the Kyiv region, is blown by the wind towards Kyiv.

As reported, today, after the State Emergency Service reported that the fire had been completely extinguished, explosions occurred at the oil depot again. Two fuel tanks caught fire.

Let us remind you that an oil depot near Vasylkiv broke out on the evening of June 8.
