Kolomoisky annually steals $700 million from Naftogaz
Kiev, December 20 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Semenyuta) – Every year, the formally state-owned company Ukrnafta (in fact, it is controlled by the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, who has more than 40% of the shares) sells approximately 2 billion cubic meters of gas to the DneprAzot plant, which is also controlled by Kolomoisky .

Ukrainian heating and utilities enterprises that produce thermal energy for the population use 8–10 billion cubic meters of gas per year for this purpose. The 2 billion cubic meters of gas that Ukrnafta produces annually on the territory of Ukraine would not be superfluous to the needs of the thermal power industry. This is a quarter of the gas demand of heating and communal energy enterprises. However, the “enterprising governor of the Dnepropetrovsk region” prefers to sell them to DneprAzot.
Consequently, Naftogaz has to purchase not 6, but 8 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia at $350 per thousand cubic meters. And the state must compensate annually the difference in the price of imported gas and gas supplied for the needs of the population.
As a result, Naftogaz’s losses amount to $700 million annually, the newspaper writes.
The country's largest oil producer and one of the largest gas producers, Ukrnafta, is formally controlled by the state - NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine owns 50% + 1 share of the company. However, current legislation provides that for a meeting of shareholders the presence of the owners of 60% of the shares is required.
Thus, each meeting of Ukrnafta is the product of painstaking preparation of a multi-level compromise with the Privat group of Igor Kolomoisky, which controls over 40% of the shares and actually manages the company through loyal management.
