Kolomoisky: There will never be federalization and special status for Donbass
If Ukraine is unable to return Donbass under its control and on its own terms in the foreseeable future, a full-fledged border should appear on the line of contact.
Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky stated this in an interview with Censor, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The demarcation line should be a border line and that’s it. How else? We can’t help but stop this abscess. This must be calcified, in medical terms, this tumor, it must be separated from the other organism so as not to poison it. Until the Kremlin gets tired of it. We understand that everything is unhappy there, only those who cannot afford to leave live there. These are mostly pensioners. The youth all leave from there, except for those who haven’t broken up or haven’t drunk themselves to death. Donbass has no future without Ukraine,” Kolomoisky said.
In his opinion, Ukraine should propose a modified version of the Minsk Agreements, which does not provide for a special status for Donbass.
“The first is a ceasefire, an exchange of prisoners - most of them, and certainly those who have been imprisoned for a long time since 14-15. Second: holding elections according to Ukrainian legislation under the control of the Ukrainian authorities. Third: the day after the elections, the process of transferring control of the border begins. Those. literally like this: Russian troops are withdrawn and control of the border is transferred entirely to Ukrainian troops. Now there is a clause that control over the border is transferred after changes in the Constitution, that is, never. This would not have happened under Poroshenko, nor under Zelensky it will not happen, nor under anyone else, because it is impossible to vote, to find 300 votes for changes to the Constitution, federalization, the constitution of individual republics, for other nonsense. Because if this is done, the Ukrainian state will cease to exist. Therefore, fourthly, replace the obligations in the Minsk Agreement to amend the Constitution with a 5-year law on the special status of Donbass,” Kolomoisky said.
The oligarch believes that if Ukrainian parties are allowed to participate in the elections in Donbass, then propaganda will do its job, and they will win there: “To hell with them, let them hold their own fucking elections - after all, we will participate in them there according to Ukrainian laws, access our media will have it. For example, “Servant of the People” can certainly participate, let’s see who will be more popular in Donbass – Putin or Zelensky? “Golos” will go with Vakarchuk, Tymoshenko, “Opposition Bloc-For Life.” We don’t need to be afraid of elections.”
