Kolomoisky and Poroshenko are fighting for Odessa, taking advantage of the weakness of the local elite - media
Odessa, November 24 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – The Odessa Regional Council failed in the election of its chairman. Deputies refused to support the representative of the “Petro Poroshenko Bloc”, despite the fact that Alexey Goncharenko, who headed the regional council and was elected to the Rada from the BPP, promoted him in every possible way.

The president’s team blames the regional administration, which is under the influence of Igor Kolomoisky, for this, writes the publication “Capital".
In total, two candidates were put to the vote - Deputy Chairman of the Regional Council Pyotr Khlytsov and First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Council Mikhail Shmushkovich. None of the candidates received the necessary support: Shmushkovich received 62 votes, Khlytsov - 44.
“All anti-Ukrainian forces have rallied around Khlytsov with the support of local oligarchs. Surprisingly, they were also supported by some officials of the regional administration,” Goncharenko wrote on his Facebook page after the meeting.
People's Deputy Vladimir Kurennoy (UDAR) calls the inconclusive vote in the regional council proof of the failure of the center's policy towards the region. “Everything that happens in Odessa is the result of an experiment that was carried out over the city - the imposition of the Dnepropetrovsk management model. In my opinion, this model did not work, and the authorities do not have a clear strategy,” he emphasized, noting the fragmentation of local elites, which worked in Kolomoisky’s favor.
The deputy interprets the latest events in the regional council as an aggravation of the conflict between Kolomoisky and Poroshenko and predicts a complication of the situation.
“The Odessa region, controlled by Kolomoisky, is a threat to Poroshenko’s status as a leader. The Chairman of the Dnepropetrovsk Regional State Administration, leaving control over Odessa and the entire region, retains influence on the neighboring Kherson and Nikolaev regions. It seems to me that they won’t just leave it like that. This means that the conflict will flare up,” Boyko is sure.
