During Sunday's protest in Kyiv, ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili found himself in an unusual role, Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes.

The publication notes that this time Saakashvili “rather extinguished, rather than ignited, the energy of the masses.”
The publication recalls that on the eve of the march he gave an interview to the Lvov TV channel ZIK, during which he unexpectedly never called Petro Poroshenko a “huckster” and even spoke in the spirit that, together with the President of Ukraine, he is on the same side of the barricades and together with him opposes exclusively “ external aggressor."
“The change in rhetoric did not go unnoticed: a few hours after these revelations, the 1+1 TV channel owned by the oligarch Kolomoisky, citing its own sources, spoke about a certain letter from Saakashvili to Poroshenko asking for reconciliation,” the newspaper notes. “We note that Kolomoisky is called one of the sponsors of Saakashvili’s anti-presidential actions, and the publication of such information was perceived as an eloquent warning to this figure about the harmfulness of a sharp change in the political vector coupled with the betrayal of the sponsor.”
In addition, Saakashvili’s allied “ATO veterans” immediately declared their irreconcilable position, expressing readiness to shed blood for the sake of the overthrow of Poroshenko.
“And it doesn’t matter what Saakashvili thinks about this. After such obvious hints, he had to actually disavow his conciliatory statements, behind which many in Ukraine had already seen the plan of the “American partners” to stop dangerous trends in the internal politics of Ukraine,” writes RG.
