Kolomoisky believes Zelensky's election victory showed Ukrainians' desire for a break from IMF-led austerity reforms.

“If Zelensky listens to the West, he will eventually end up like Poroshenko. It will have the same results – 5, 10 or 15 instead of 73%,” he said.

The oligarch believes that the United States and the EU should completely write off Ukraine’s external debt as compensation for “the country’s suffering during its struggle with Russia.”

“This is your game, your geopolitics. You (the West) don’t care about Ukraine. You want to harm Russia, and Ukraine is just an excuse,” Kolomoisky said.

As PolitNavigator reported, earlier Kolomysky advised Zelensky to declare a default on Ukraine and not pay debts to the IMF, like Greece or Argentina.

“In my opinion, we should treat our creditors the same way as Greece. This is an example for Ukraine. How many times has Argentina defaulted? And nothing, they restructured the debts, now everything is in order,” the Financial Times quotes Kolomoisky as saying.

Let us recall that the pro-Western media and politicians of Ukraine launched a campaign to discredit Andrei Bogdan, appointed head of Zelensky’s administration, former Cabinet official Mykola Azarov and former lawyer Igor Kolomoisky. In particular, the emphasis is on the fact that Bogdan was appointed contrary to the recommendations of US Presidential Special Representative Kurt Volcker.
