Kolomoisky compared the situation in Donbass with the civil war in Spain
Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky believes that the situation in Donbass is a “civil conflict” and not “Russian aggression,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He stated this in the program “Nemtsova. Interview", which airs on DW.
“The closest thing I had to compare (with the conflict in Donbass - ed.) was the civil war in Spain. Although if there was a civil war in Spain, then I would call what is happening in the Donbass a rebellion inspired by an external party, in this situation the Russian Federation, which fully supplied heavy, light and other weapons... trying to raise this rebellion not only in Donetsk and Lugansk, but also in other regions,” Kolomoisky said.
At the same time, he noted that today he can call it a “civil conflict.”
“Today I can safely call it a civil conflict based only on one characteristic feature, because citizens of Ukraine are participating on both sides. Yes, on the one hand, it is fully supported by the Russian Federation...On the other hand, it can and would like to complete this whole story...but there are many problems why it cannot do this,” Kolomoisky emphasized.
He also added that the conflict in Donbass will continue until Russian President Vladimir Putin “receives answers to the questions of what to do with those citizens of Ukraine who supported the DPR/LPR.”
