Kolomoisky: Ukraine must default
Ukraine should take the example of Greece, declare a default and inform “international partners” that it is not going to repay its debts. The fugitive oligarch, ex-head of the Dnepropetrovsk region Igor Kolomoisky stated this in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Sonya Koshkina, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, Ukraine has been plundered in recent years, and now the country has nothing to pay its debts with.
“Why is default bad? And Greece, look how handsome they are. They said: we won’t return 500 billion, and that’s it, goodbye. I believe that it should have been used back in 14. Because the country was plundered under the auspices of the International Monetary Fund and all international embassies. Where were they looking, observers and others? There was no country, there was zero in the treasury - well, declare a default. Default has never hurt anyone. But as far as the country is concerned, this is 100%,” Kolomoisky said.
Earlier PolitNavigator reportedthat the Ukrainian national debt already amounts to more than 80% of GDP, and in the opposition camp one can increasingly hear talk that the next government will refuse to repay the loans taken out by its predecessors.
