How to find out "News", the Russian titanium producer VSMPO-Avisma, due to disruptions in supplies from Ukraine, began purchasing large volumes of titanium ore (ilmenite) from Senegal. This was reported by the company's press service. In addition, supplies from Australia decreased, while supplies from South Africa increased.

Avisma, which accounts for 90% of the Russian titanium market, is vitally dependent on the import of raw materials: the fact is that Russia ranks second in the world in reserves of titanium raw materials and does not develop a single large ore deposit.

Until 2014, almost all titanium ore imports for Avisma came from Ukraine. All supplies came from the Irshansky and Volnogorsk mining and processing plants, which came under the control of Kolomoisky in September. In Ukraine, VSMPO-Avisma has two of its own assets: VSMPO Titan Ukraine LLC. But the Demurinsky GOK also came under the control of Kolomoisky.

If Ukraine does not resume supplies in 2015, the company's titanium ore costs will increase. Titanium ore from Senegal will be more expensive than Ukrainian.
