The DPR team officially competed in Japan and won 13 medals
The DPR karate team took part in the ninth KWF Karate World Cup, which took place on November 9-10 in Japan (Tokyo). This was reported by the VKontakte community of the Social Movement “Donetsk Republic”.
The competition brought together athletes from 32 countries aged 8 to 60 years.
“It is worth noting that the team of the Donetsk People's Republic was presented as a full member of the World Karatenomichi Federation. Team leader Yuri Martynov and team head coach Andrei Medvedev took part as official representatives of the DPR at the KWF World Conference.
Based on the results of the performance, the team of the Donetsk People’s Republic won 13 medals, of which 10 were gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze,” the message says.
The success of the team from Donbass in Japan is “news of great importance,” comments Yuri Afonin, a member of the DPR Writers’ Union.
“What's remarkable, you ask? There is a lot of such news, athletes from the DPR win something every now and then and take pictures with the flag of the Republic. Yes, but not so! That is, they didn’t just bring a flag to take a photo, but they performed under this flag.
This, gentlemen, is very, very good. It was not athletes from Donetsk, Ukraine, with the DPR flag who performed, but athletes from Donetsk, Donetsk People's Republic! Officially, which is very important,” explains Afonin.
Thank you!
