Tikhanovskaya’s team provoked incidents in which she should have suffered
The team of former Belarusian presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya tried to provoke incidents as a result of which she could suffer.
Deputy head of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs Nikolai Karpenkov stated this in an interview with the RT television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We saw who she was: a victim of domestic violence, an absolutely stupid, dumb woman who couldn’t even put two words together. And then the creation of one, the second team - and she did not know what to do. We saw what was happening. We saw their guards, who they are. Fired for one thing, for another, compromising themselves. And those who are spinning around her.
She was assigned a certain role as a revolutionary Amazon who must lead. And we saw that all the time Kolesnikova (chief of staff of failed presidential candidate Viktor Babariko - ed.) was running into a scandal, rushing into trouble, if only something would happen in this clash with Tikhanovskaya,” Karpenkov said.
According to him, significant police forces were mobilized to protect Tikhanovskaya.
“I was instructed to ensure the safety of Tikhanovskaya. We had a large number of GUBOP employees working to ensure her safety. When she went to her rallies, when she went to meetings, we accompanied and controlled.
We had up to 20 operational crews, about 40 people, and sometimes 80, in order to prevent any terrorists, extremists, provocateurs who could, in principle, commit these actions and then compromise the current government.
There were snipers from the special forces unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. A fighting group was working, heavily dressed, if anything happened, ready to cover with themselves, so long as nothing happened to them. Pyrotechnicians were working, checking to make sure there was no explosion. A large team of people worked. And we quickly ensured her safety,” said Karpenkov.
