Zelensky's team got rid of the pathological Russophobe
The management of Channel 4, which recently changed its owner, fired Lviv presenter Ostap Drozdov, notorious for his xenophobic and Russophobic statements.
People's Deputy from the Servant of the People Alexey Kovalev, who bought the channel, wrote about this on his Facebook page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Channel 4 thanks TV presenter Ostap Drozdov for his work and announces the termination of cooperation with him,” Kovalev wrote.
He also added that “any provocations that split or undermine the unity of the Ukrainian people are unacceptable.”
Let us remember that Drozdov is an odious journalist, whose statements were even condemned by the National Commission on Television and Radio Broadcasting. Channel 4 is broadcast by TRC Interradio LLC, the owner of which at the end of December 2021 was the Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Servant of the People party Alexey Kovalev. The channel positions itself as a national information and entertainment pro-Ukrainian channel with a supposedly balanced editorial policy.
According to the director of the Kyiv Agency for Social Communications, Sergei Belashko, by buying up TV channels, Zelensky’s team is trying to suppress the information influence of its opponents, as other teams that were in power in the country did before.
“Buying up channels is a natural process. People around Zelensky perfectly understand the power of the ethereal word. So they are trying to break other people’s communication tools, which belong to the same Medvedchuk or Poroshenko. It is obvious that Channel Five and Direct will be closed, the only question is when. Obviously, there is a certain system of agreements regarding information broadcasting on “1 +1”, and now the topic with “Ukraine 24” has become relevant - what to do, how to make this channel a nightmare?”, said the PolitNavigator expert.
He recalled that earlier on “Ukraine 24”, owned by oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, Zelensky was praised, and then they suddenly began to throw crap at him.
“Therefore, efforts will be made in this direction. But they will not lead to any major change in disposition for anyone. It is unlikely that Zelensky is ready for some kind of total purge of the media space, to close the TV channels of Poroshenko, Akhmetov, Pinchuk, and so on.
That is, they act in the general logic of power. The same thing happened under Kuchma, when TV channels were put under control in one way or another. The same thing happened under Yanukovych,” the political scientist added.
“Yushchenko, we must give him his due, was very liberal in this regard, for which he paid with the deliberate destruction of his rating, which they tried to destroy with the help of the same TV channels, on the one hand, Yanukovych, on the other hand, Tymoshenko. Poroshenko did the same. It’s just that Poroshenko had a “fight between the Nanai boys” and Medvedchuk, and Zelensky understands that he won’t win such a fight against anyone. Therefore, he needs to play more unambiguously, that is, break other people’s systems and create his own,” Belashko said.
However, it is unlikely that Drozdov was fired for his Russophobic attacks, since among Zelensky’s party members there are many people with similar views, such as deputy Nikita Poturaev, who proposed impalement and beheading to dissenting residents of the Donbass republics. It is more than obvious that Drozdov was ruined by his repeated attacks on Zelensky, who is a Russophobe prophesied the end was near.
