The Aidar commander brought the battalion flag to the session hall of the Rada (VIDEO)
Kyiv, November 27 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – At least half of the ATO battalion commanders who became deputies of the Rada came to the first meeting in military uniform, and some even with the battle flags of their units.
In particular, sitting with a banner at his workplace in the session hall was the commander of the Aidar battalion, Sergei Melnichuk, who got into parliament on the lists of Oleg Lyashko’s party.

“This is the battle banner of the Aidar battalion,” the battalion commander told a PolitNavigator correspondent. “It symbolizes the fact that we finally came to the Verkhovna Rada, and on this flag is the blood of the soldiers who fought. This banner is also a reminder to deputies so that they know: we are here on guard and will not allow them to make decisions that will again be against the integrity of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.”
At the same time, the battalion commander says that the banner will not be constantly in the session hall and after the first meeting will go back to the unit.
Sergei Melnichuk also told the agency that the issue with the new battalion commander has not yet been resolved (according to the law, one must resign from office or resign as a deputy) and does not rule out that he will return to command.
“Yesterday they decided that I should meet with the Minister of Defense,” says the commander. – For now the issue is pending, and I will work in parliament. If within 30 days a decision is not made on the candidacy of my deputy for armaments, who is supported along with me by three quarters of the battalion, then I will still return to the battalion and will not allow it to be privatized.”
It is worth noting that yesterday Aidar fighters held a rally in Kyiv who disagreed with the appointment of a new commander from the Ministry of Defense.
