DPR army commander: war could start at any minute
The Ukrainian Armed Forces can go on the offensive at any moment, but the DPR army is ready to repel any enemy attack.
The commander of the People's Militia of the DPR with the call sign “Baikal” told PolitNavigator about this.
P.N.: Can you somehow predict the further development of the situation on the line of contact and at the front in general?
"Baikal": Forecasts are a thankless task, because everything can both begin and end at one moment. Therefore, probably no one will give big forecasts. For our part, we are doing everything we can. We are constantly digging in and strengthening ourselves. If the enemy decides to attack, we will meet him with dignity.
P.N.: Not so long ago there were assumptions that Ukraine would launch an offensive towards the presidential elections of the Russian Federation, then towards the World Cup. The topic of the Ukrainian offensive came up again after the assassination of the commander-in-chief of the DPR. How do you assess the likelihood that Kyiv will finally decide on a full-scale offensive?
"Baikal": I think anything is possible. So, this cannot continue indefinitely. In any case, we will not give up our land to the enemy, they will not leave without a fight either, so they need to go on the offensive. I think that all this will happen sooner or later, the only question is time. Maybe the offensive will begin after the church is split, they have a very strong church war going on there now, maybe then something will change when the Orthodox people rise up.
P.N.: Do you think something might start for the upcoming presidential elections in Ukraine?
"Baikal": I think there will be some big provocations one hundred percent, because Poroshenko has no desire to leave just like that, he needs some kind of action. If the war in Donbass continues, he will be able to beg for money and sit in his chair. But I think that with this president there will be no change for the better.
