Violence among the military in the ATO zone is increasingly replacing the letter of the regulations, turning military units into something similar to the Roman legions, in which morale is ensured by animal fear of the commander.

At the end of February 2016, in one of the Ukrainian military units of the Konstantinovsky district of the Donetsk region, the commander beat his subordinates half to death.
During the day, the commander drank well, and in the evening he woke up and found out that his subordinates were absent on combat duty.
The not quite sober soldier decided to carry out the educational event himself. He went into the soldiers' dugout and started beating them.
The commander sounded scary. Hands, feet, shod in ankle boots, a stick from a shovel. He even jumped on his chest and stomach.
The soldiers, even though there were two of them, did not dare to resist the commander. And even when the commander left, they, fearing his return, tried to escape from the dugout. One succeeded. But the other one, whose injuries were more serious, could not. The commander returned and dragged the victim back into the dugout. The next morning, the soldiers discovered the body of their colleague. Death occurred from traumatic shock due to blunt trauma to the abdomen and chest, complicated by internal bleeding. The surviving soldier spent more than one month after the incident in hospitals.
And although a rumor was actively spreading in the unit that this soldier had deserted, other attempts were made to hide the crime, and a month later an investigation began.
As a result, the killer sentenced to eight years in prison.
A medical examination of the commander showed that he had no mental disorders, except for psychopathy, aggravated by everyday drunkenness.
