Commander of the DPR “Legion” battalion: The Ukrainians tried to take us into the cauldron, but their plan was seen through
The attempted offensive by Ukrainian militants, made last night near Debaltsevo, was aimed at creating a cauldron into which the DPR forces would fall, Sergei Zavdoveev, deputy of the DPR People’s Council, commander of the Legion battalion, told PolitNavigator.

"My unit and I took Logvinovo on February 8, when our troops closed the Debaltsevo cauldron, so these places are well known to me. And literally half an hour ago I assessed the current situation based on the operational summary and map of military operations. The enemy’s plan is clear - they are trying to create a cauldron a la 2014, when they surrendered Debaltseve, only now we must be in the cauldron.
To be honest, it is completely unclear what they are counting on. They have no chance.
If they enter Logvinovo, this will be a gross violation of Minsk. After all, Logvinovo is not neutral territory, it is our territory, where our checkpoint stands. This is the route connecting Debaltsevo with Artemovsk. This will be a good reason for us to launch an offensive operation.
In addition, by entering Logvinovo they will violate all the Minsk agreements, but we will not violate anything with our counterattack.
My unit is now on combat duty and awaiting orders from the head of state.
These provocations were carried out not by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but by volunteer battalions sponsored by the oligarchs.
Ukraine is now “merging” these battalions. According to our information, there is now a battle going on near Shirokino between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the battalions. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are firing at these battalions, displacing them, pushing them into our territory, under our bullets.
Lately we have been receiving letters from these battalions. Some of them are ready to surrender under any conditions. Now we are negotiating with them,” Zavdoveev said.
