The Berkut commander told at what point the fighters from Crimea sent Ukraine
In 2014, the Berkut units located on the Maidan could easily cope with the dispersal of protesters and stop the coup. The ex-commander of the Sevastopol Berkut, Sergei Kolbin, stated this in an interview with the NTS TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, without waiting for a command from the leadership, the special forces officers silently left Kyiv, observing how in other regions of Ukraine the nationalists had already carried out reprisals against the security forces.
“The morale and moral-psychological readiness of the employees, and even the equipment that we had, would have allowed us to put an end to these outrages on the Maidan...
They waited and left in silence, because we had already seen in the news how they treated the returning Berkut in Volyn, Lviv, and Ternopil. Therefore, in principle, the moral and psychological state of the fighters was suppressed. They began to understand that they had begun to be betrayed at the state level,” Kolbin said.
