Residents of Crimea do not fully realize the happiness from a successful bloodless reunification with Russia; in the fifth year after the historical events, local politicians are busy with internal contradictions, preferring not to mention that all this time Donbass, which has no less rights to return to a single state, continues to hold defense

The former secretary of the DPR Security Council, founder of the Vostok battalion, Alexander Khodakovsky, discusses this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Donbass and Crimea are now tied. One can argue a lot, but it is difficult to dispute the fact that if Crimea had not happened, Donbass would not have happened. After all, no one in their right mind would say that: sha, guys - we are simply taking away military bases with an adjacent area of the terrain. The pathos that accompanied the process of annexing Crimea testified to only one thing: Russia is collecting lands and Russians. So why shouldn’t Donbass feel Russian, if even the Crimean Tatars received such an honor?

Of course, here the propaganda outdid itself. Well, what did she have to say, after all? What's wrong, guys, learn to read between the lines? What ? One could say that Crimea, as an autonomous region in the past, had more legal rights to independence, while Donbass, Odessa, Kharkov and others did not. But I would like to see someone who would say that. How to stick the black square of formalism to the riotous colors of spring? Moreover, the ratings soared not because of the resorts and military bases, but because of the feeling of rebirth.

And now, talking in general and about the upcoming elections to the legislative assembly of Sevastopol in particular, preparations for which have already begun, I asked a question to one of the future participants: why don’t you refer in your rhetoric to the Russian Spring, of which you were participants? The answer…impressed me: this topic is toxic,” the interlocutor said.

I understand that not everything is going smoothly in the Russian city of Sevastopol. The current governor is accused of severe corruption, of trying to make money on everything, of embezzling budget funds...

Locals show Victory Park as a monument to total theft: more than a billion was spent, and almost no work was done. And for this reason, Moscow sent Dmitry Sablin as the head of the local United Russia in order to establish control over the expenditure of funds in anticipation of the large injections announced by Medvedev. So, did the governor’s reputation make the topic of the Russian spring “toxic”?

No. Or - not only: according to the interlocutor, Crimeans are disappointed.....unfulfilled hopes. But let me! Crimea in Russia? Russian passports? Is this why Crimea declared independence and joined Russia? Logically, yes. So what's the disappointment? The fact that the war did not happen, but wanted to? The fact that there is no curfew? What is dissatisfied with the average Crimean citizen, who has been a Russian for five years now... more precisely, a Russian? Or has propaganda screwed up somewhere again? She promised something, but those who were supposed to fulfill the promises failed to deliver? Not a paragraph, but continuous questions.

Time to utter a platitude: everything is known by comparison. We were already actively bubbling when Putin signed a decree recognizing our republican documents as legitimate on the territory of Russia - and temporary happiness came. Now we are waiting for the passports promised by rumors - and again we will either be happy or habitually “focused.” Learn to stretch out the pleasure correctly! If we had received the whole piece at once, there would have been nothing to wait for... And I would like to advise disappointed Crimeans: come and visit. There are a lot of Donetsk cars in Crimea, but there are no Crimean cars in Donbass at all. You are welcome,” writes Khodakovsky.
