The commander spoke about the high losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The fighting in Donbass took on the character of local clashes due to a large-scale regrouping of fresh forces and troops participating in the liberation operations.
The former secretary of the DPR Security Council, commander of the Vostok battalion, Alexander Khodakovsky, spoke about this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now those units that had offensive potential and developed an offensive in certain directions have found themselves in fairly large cities. The enemy is not going to surrender every city without a fight. For example, if in some direction it was simpler (for example, Lisichansk), somewhere the enemy retreated, having fought, leveling the front line, then in relation to a number of fairly large cities in the Donetsk region, and there are about seven of them left - quite densely populated, densely built-up, there the enemy will resist.
The most unpleasant thing for us is that in cities with dense urban development, even insignificant forces can provide quite noticeable resistance. But our army is stuck in the cities and will solve the problem of taking them,” Khodakovsky assured.
At the same time, according to him, the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are proportional to their considerable degree of concentration in occupied areas.
“Now we are regrouping. Those units that passed through several hot spots... For example, one of the airborne brigades passed through Gostomel, Popasnaya - now we are interacting with them, but we understand its potential, so it was transferred to defense tasks, because it is simply not able to carry out offensive tasks after all the stressful parts she had been through. In the same place where we are planning an offensive, we are transferring the resource that is now more full-blooded,” the commander said.
“Now there is a pause, which is filled with many very intense local clashes, which in themselves cause damage to both us and the enemy. According to the statistics available to us, we estimate that, after all, more damage is done to the enemy than to us, if only because the concentration of the enemy in the area is much higher. Its concentration in each area is approximately two and a half times greater than ours. Accordingly, the losses are comparable,” Khodakovsky explained.
