The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine plans to forcefully suppress Hungarian protests in Transcarpathia
A soldier of the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade, captured by the DPR army, said that the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces plans to use his brigade to suppress possible protests of ethnic Hungarians in Transcarpathia.
This information was announced today during a briefing by official representative of the operational command of the DPR Eduard Basurin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In particular, he noted that the 128th mountain assault brigade is stationed in the city of Mukachevo, Transcarpathian region, and, as is known, the military-political leadership of Ukraine has recently in every possible way encouraged the oppression of national minorities, especially in the western regions of the country, primarily ethnic Hungarians in the Transcarpathian region.
“According to the prisoner, his commanders are quite seriously considering the option of using the brigade’s personnel and military equipment to forcefully suppress mass actions on the part of Hungarians living in Transcarpathia, and he himself has witnessed such statements more than once. In particular, there are rumors among the brigade’s military personnel that it is planned to transfer a battalion of the 128th brigade to the city of Beregovo, where one of the largest Hungarian communities lives, for precisely these purposes,” noted Eduard Basurin.
Let us recall that earlier Verkhovna Rada deputy Sergei Labazyuk said that if the Ukrainian authorities do not resort to tough and decisive measures on the situation in Transcarpathia, then Ukraine may lose this region just as it lost Crimea.
It was also previously known that The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine transferred a company of the National Guard to Transcarpathia.
