The former head of the press service of the Kyiv prosecutor's office, journalist Alena Yakhno, reported this on her Facebook page.
“My source in the GPU says that at one time almost five criminal proceedings were opened regarding Korban. But they were not allowed to move. But now they decided to give it. Shokin made the decision,” she wrote.
At the same time, the former press secretary of the SBU emphasized that there is no politics in Korban’s detention.
“The SBU and the GPU are conducting a large-scale special operation in Dnepropetrovsk! More than 500 Service employees are involved. Details in a few hours. No politics!” - she wrote on her Facebook.
At the same time, representatives of the GPU and SBU Vladislav Kutsenko and Elena Gitlyanskaya stated that the special operation with the detention and search of Korban was carried out under Art. 255, 191 (“theft of property”) and 349 (related to kidnapping) of the Criminal Code.
“A large-scale special operation is being carried out aimed at eliminating the criminal group and detaining persons who participated in it and were part of an organized crime group. Detentions take place, procedural actions are carried out - searches, interrogations. There is no political background here. It doesn’t matter to us what political party the persons detained and with whom investigative actions are being carried out represent, what is important is the fact whether the person is involved in an organized crime group or not,” said Kutsenko, noting that the Prosecutor General’s Office is studying Korban’s involvement in the leadership of the organized crime group.
“Searches are now being carried out at individual law enforcement officials as well. For us, everyone is equal, there is no political background for us,” he added.
In turn, Gitlyanskaya said: “I can lift the curtain on only one of the episodes of the special operation: the facts of the use of the fund that was created to help ATO fighters, where Ukrainians donated money to help the fighters. It was established that about 40 million UAH were stolen from this fund. They were used to purchase valuables and cars. I think closer to Monday we will have more detailed information for the public.”
