“I will ask you to take these issues very carefully, because the situation now is such that you are making plans, postponing the resolution of land registration issues. I can’t start working on these lands - this will be carried over for a long time: footballing up, from top to bottom,” Vitko said today at a session of the city legislative assembly, addressing the acting governor of Sevastopol Dmitry Ovsyannikov.
The admiral noted that the city government, when drawing up the development strategy for Sevastopol until 2030, included the lands of the Ministry of Defense, which will be developed according to a different plan.
“The strategy touches on parts of the lands of the Ministry of Defense - we have plans for them, including Streletsky Hill, one of the options for locating the Patriot park. After the decision was made to abandon Mount Gasforta, Streletsky Hill is one of the options,” the commander said.
He also criticized the city government for planning the construction of neighborhoods for compact military housing on the outskirts of Sevastopol.
“Please do not forget that we are building housing for military personnel and will not build in the middle of nowhere of Sevastopol, but closer to the center. This is my interest. I believe that military personnel should not be discriminated against in their places of residence. Housing construction should not become more expensive due to the lack of communications - we will build them at our own expense. And military personnel are no worse than investors and businessmen, who have the right to live closer to the center, but military personnel do not. Therefore, when implementing, I ask that the lands of the Ministry of Defense be taken into account,” Vitko said.
In addition, the admiral refused to transfer departmental kindergartens to the city.
“I will immediately answer about kindergartens: the Black Sea Fleet does not plan to give kindergartens to the city. Until enough kindergartens are built to ease the tension. I have hundreds of military personnel perform combat missions every day. Unfortunately, they die, as happened today. I can't leave military families. I will protect their interests,” the commander emphasized.
