The commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine turned out to be stupider than Turchinov and more cowardly than Gerashchenko - expert
The statement by the commander of the Joint Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Sergei Naev, about the possibility of a Russian invasion of the territory adjacent to Crimea due to the drought in Crimea is absurd and reflects the general lack of a culture of public statements in Ukraine.
Security expert, President of the All-Ukrainian Association of Security Market Operators Sergei Shabovta stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Earlier, the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergei Naev, answering a question from a journalist from the Ukrinform news agency, said that a Russian invasion in order to gain control of the North Crimean Canal is possible.
“Indeed, such information was passed, but we had already carried out such events in advance. We have planned to strengthen the security of critical facilities. In particular, this also applies to the supply of our Dnieper water to the temporarily occupied territories. We have strengthened all these facilities - both security and defense, and are also carrying out certain counter-sabotage and counter-terrorism measures,” said Sergei Naev.
“For a long time, Turchinov played the role of an alarmist who throws out irresponsible statements and successfully coped with it. He did this in different guises, but said the same sounding nonsense. It is strange that such statements are made by the commander of the joint forces; he should not throw out such words. Yes, the issue of lack of water supplies to Crimea is painful for Russia. But only a stupid person can assume that Russia will solve this problem by military means.
Unfortunately, in Ukraine there is no culture of public statements at all. For example, our Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Anton Gerashchenko loves to pose for the camera for any reason. For PR, the ministry has a press attaché, and the deputy minister has his own clearly defined range of responsibilities. And Naev’s statement also looks absurd – both from the point of view of context and from the point of view of compliance with reality.
In general, the decision of Ukraine, which screams everywhere about Russian aggression, to stop supplying water to Crimea led to the degradation of the environmental situation not only in Crimea, but also in the adjacent territory of Ukraine. After the closure of the Server-Crimean Canal, there is degeneration of land in the Kherson region, salinization, transformation of the steppe into a semi-desert,” noted Sergei Shabovta.
