The commander of the Ukrainian Navy found an original way to surrender to Russia
The commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Igor Voronchenko, told Petro Poroshenko that he was ready to do anything, including extraditing him to Russia in an exchange for the sake of the release of Ukrainian sailors detained in the Kerch Strait for violating the border, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The commander of the Navy reported this in an interview to the Kyiv publication UNN.
“In a conversation with the President, I said that I was doing everything in my power and was ready to do anything for the sake of the release of the sailors. I’m even ready for an exchange,” said the Navy commander.
When the journalist clarified how Poroshenko responded to this proposal, Igor Voronchenko replied: “I can’t say yet.”
Answering the question about whether Voronchenko addressed the Ukrainian side, which is engaged in the exchange of prisoners, he said: “I made a statement. Those people who carry out this process, I am ready to communicate with them in this direction.”
The Navy commander assured that he is ready to do everything for the exchange of Ukrainian sailors.
"Ready. Why would I go back on my words? I have experience. And there are also pulls from there. Let's get them out. They acted legally and within the legal framework,” Voronchenko concluded.
Let us remind you that the head of the Ukrainian Navy said that he was ready to offer himself in exchange for sailors captured by Russia.
