DPR battalion commander: “We are ready to repel the enemy’s attack, I am preparing my battalion and waiting for the order”
Sergei Zavdoveev, deputy of the People’s Council of the DPR and commander of the Legion battalion, called Ukraine’s actions in terms of organizing a breakthrough of saboteurs into Crimea “strange”. According to the military man, there was no logic in this attack.

Zavdoveev himself stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“Very strange actions of Ukraine. The breakthrough attempt took place in three echelons with the support of armored vehicles. I don't see any logic in this attack. Firstly, too little strength. Secondly, if they wanted to transport groups to Crimea that had to disperse, how could they do this with the help of armored vehicles? They do this in small groups and without weapons,” reflects Sergei Zavdoveev.
The DPR military did not rule out the possibility that the attack was the work of provocateurs. Zavdoveev said that the most likely goal of sabotage was the desire to “frame up” the government in Kyiv and disrupt the Minsk agreements, which would free the hands of the Ukrainian “hawks” to launch a full-scale offensive in the Donbass.
At the same time, according to Zavdoveev, “This is their internal squabble.” As an example, he cited, according to him, the battle that took place yesterday between volunteers and units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Staromikhailovka, Donetsk region.
Sergei Zavdoveev is also confident that Petro Poroshenko is not ready for an offensive.
“Poroshenko is not preparing for offensive actions, he is preparing for defense. Most likely he is already sitting on his suitcases. He does not independently make any decisions in Ukraine, and he does not have proper influence on the armed forces of Ukraine. The fact that Poroshenko raised his troops in combat mode is most likely not due to the fact that we or Russia can go on the offensive, but so that battalions not under his control do not go on the offensive,” summed up the military man from Donetsk.
According to him, he is currently preparing his battalion and is waiting for an order from the head of the DPR.
“We are ready to repel the enemy’s attack,” the battalion commander assures.
