The communist and United Russia accused each other of inventing the term “survival period”
The authorities did not present any serious arguments in favor of raising the retirement age. About this at the discussion “Pension reform or maneuver?” State Duma deputy Yuri Afonin (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) stated, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The authorities say that by 2030 the average life expectancy will reach 80 years, and then the age of so-called survival will last longer. Look at the terms: in Soviet times – “well-deserved rest”, and now – “survival”.
His opponent Alexander Sidyakin (United Russia) did not agree with the arguments presented.
“We don’t want to use the term ‘survival’. You came up with this, Yuri, you started using the term “survival”, we just want to use the term “third age”, the prime of life, you understand,” said Sidyakin.
