The communist proposed awarding Usik the title of Hero of Russia
Boxer Alexander Usik does a lot to strengthen the friendship of peoples and therefore is a hero not only of Ukraine, but also of Russia.
State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Yuri Afonin said this today on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“He is a hero not only of Ukraine, but also of Russia, because he does everything to bring our peoples closer together. I am sure that the time will come when peoples will communicate, and the elite that is trying to politicize sports victories is making a mistake,” Afonin said.
As Politnavigator previously reported, at a press conference in Kyiv, boxer Alexander Usik said that he does not need the title of “Hero of Ukraine,” which official Kyiv “distributes to just anyone.”
