The authorities of Feodosia decided to move the monument to Lenin from Station Square to a remote part of the city, and instead install the stele “Feodosia - the city of military glory.”

This was reported by the press service of the Crimean republican organization of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.

The communists are outraged by this idea and believe that the monument, erected with the money of the Red Army soldiers in 1944, cannot be moved without public approval.

“Monument to V.I. Lenin was built and installed on Station Square immediately after the expulsion of the Nazis from Feodosia in 1944, with money from the same Red Army soldiers who defended and liberated the city. Isn’t this blasphemy against the memory of Soviet soldiers-liberators of the city and Crimea as a whole?” - say the communists.

The Communist Party of the Russian Federation cites a statement from veterans' organizations that compare the transfer of the monument with the situation in Ukraine.

“Those people who provided Feodosia with military glory were not asked where the monument to their heroism should stand. This monument is certainly needed, but there are many places for it in the city. And it is impossible for the establishment of a stele of military glory to be a slap in the soul of veterans. Those who make money from the glory of the liberators quite possibly want to curry favor with their former masters from Ukraine - the demolition of monuments to Lenin is a symbol of Ukraine. And the monument to Lenin on Station Square has long become the calling card of the city and a place of festive celebrations for all citizens and guests of the city,” the veterans’ statement says.
