The communists are scandalizing again in the Duma. Now because of TV broadcasts
At a meeting today, State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Nina Ostanina demanded an investigation into the issue of inviting representatives of opposition factions to appear on federal channels. At the previous meeting, the communists were indignant that they were not allocated offices.
“We are talking about compliance with the law on guarantees of equality of parliamentary parties when covering their activities in the media. The dominance of the position of one faction in the State Duma on central television channels creates a distorted idea among our voters that there are no other points of view,” Ostanina said.
As an example, they cited the Duma magazine “Russian Federation”, in which she counted 16 materials about the activities of deputies from United Russia, but did not find a single mention of communists
“Vladimir Volfovich, don’t be happy. There is no material about you either,” Ostanina responded to the laughter of LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin objected to the communist.
“You think that in this journal the volume of publications should be the same. But United Russia has more deputies. Are you suggesting that their rights be infringed because they are the majority? There is one voice on television, but United Russia has four opponents,” Volodin said.
He recalled that the principle of equal representation of factions is observed when forming Russian delegations at international interparliamentary assemblies.
“It may turn out that all representatives of opposition factions will end up on business trips abroad. Who will work here? Only United Russia will remain in the country. For us, this is even good: there will be no one to oppose in the hall,” Volodin joked.
He recalled that the United Russia faction gave up leading positions in Duma committees to their opposition colleagues.
“If we take the number of bosses, our representatives of opposition factions are many times larger than United Russia in terms of positions. And these are offices, transport. Those who criticize the authorities and do not want to take responsibility spend the most,” Volodin said.
The communist continued to object and compared United Russia members traveling on TV channels with Santa Clauses. Volodin was surprised “where did she get this from,” because there are Santa Clauses in Russia. He said that most often the communist Leonid Kalashnikov is called to TV channels.
“Gennady Andreevich is not offended. He doesn’t leave the screens,” Volodin said.
