Vodafone-Ukraine will help establish mobile communications in Lugansk
At the last meeting in Minsk, the management of the Ukrainian company Vodafone and representatives of the LPR agreed to establish emergency calls and improve the quality of mobile communications.
Oleg Prozhyvalsky, Director for Corporate Management and Control of Vodafone of Ukraine, spoke about this at a briefing in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He noted that today there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements. In addition, Prozhyvalsky recalled that he had already twice participated in the contact group to restore Vodafone mobile communications in the territory of Donbass not controlled by Kyiv.
“In Minsk with the Lugansk side we agreed on a lot of things, but dialogue with Donetsk did not work out. At the second meeting in the Minsk format with the Lugansk side, we agreed on the supply of eight tons of equipment and spare parts to improve the quality of communication of the mobile operator Vodafone.
For the safety of our employees, this operation will be carried out under OSCE supervision. Due to the fact that the bridge leading to the LPR was destroyed as a result of hostilities, vehicles with equipment will enter Lugansk through the territory of the DPR,” he said.
Also, a representative of the Vodafone company said that their specialists will help arrange emergency calls in the LPR.
“We proposed to the Luhansk side to organize calls for emergency services, ambulances, firefighters, and so on. To do this, we told the LPR specialists what exactly they should do on their territory, so that through our programs we could reroute calls to the mobile phones of the LPR emergency services,” concluded Oleg Prozhivalsky.
