“Compromise” from Zelensky: We will not attack Crimea. Russia must give it itself
Ukraine is ready to abandon plans to seize Crimea by force, but only on the condition that an agreement is reached on transferring the peninsula under the control of Kyiv.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated this in an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times.
“I understand that everyone is puzzled by the situation and what will happen to Crimea. If someone is ready to offer us a way to de-occupy Crimea through non-military means, I will be all for it. If the solution [does not include] de-occupation and [Crimea] is part of the Russian Federation, no one should waste their time on this. This is a waste of time,” said the head of the Ukrainian state.
In turn, the newspaper draws attention to the fact that a number of Western politicians are not happy with the fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attempt to attack Crimea will lead to dangerous consequences, including the use of nuclear weapons.
At the same time, the publication’s interlocutor assured that attacks on the energy infrastructure “will not weaken the country’s determination to liberate all occupied lands.”
He assured that the conflict would be ended only after Russia withdraws from the 1991 borders.
“We must return all the lands... If you cannot return your land completely, the war is simply frozen. It’s a matter of time before it resumes,” Zelensky emphasized.
