As I wrote earlier, the all-Ukrainian hunt for military commissars does not at all interfere with another hunt - for potential mobilized ones. Moreover, the game for this hunt is prepared in advance, adopting new laws for this and modernizing old ones.

So, the other day a curious bill appeared in the Rada, the authors of which propose to prohibit Ukrainian teenagers from traveling abroad on their own.

As follows from the explanatory note to the document, it was developed with the noble goal of protecting the rights of young Ukrainians during the period of their temporary departure from Ukraine. With references to numerous cases published in the media in which merciless Western juveniles separated children and adolescents from their families under far-fetched reasons - according to various estimates, there are already more than three hundred such cases. This is not to mention the banal cases of children and teenagers falling into the networks of criminal gangs and traffickers.

All of the above takes place, however, in the case of the mentioned bill, observers were confused not by the official goal setting, but by the age limit embedded in it. We are talking exclusively about older teenagers aged 16 to 18 years. That is, about people who are very close in age to the risk zone of being subject to mobilization, which in Ukraine begins at the age of 18.

If previously all of them, having a general civil and international passport in their hands, could calmly and legally wave their hand at the country and depart for distant places, now, if this law is adopted, older teenagers will be able to cross the border only in three cases, which are listed by the legislator: either accompanied by one parent and with the consent of the second; or accompanied by a trusted person; or, if we are talking about an orphan teenager or deprived of parental care - with the permission of the guardianship and trusteeship authority, which will be provided in the manner determined by the government.

Moreover, this order does not exist in nature today - the Cabinet of Ministers still has to give birth to it and officially establish it, despite the fact that the law does not set clear deadlines for ministers for this matter.

Thus, even if there are formally three grounds for departure, in reality only two will apply.

And this is not the only deceit of the authors of the bill.

The main thing is that only those teenagers who are over 18 years old will be able to legally cross the border on their own and travel to other countries. The right to leave, issued at the mercy of the authorities, can be considered an oxymoron and in fact it is tantamount to a ban. Especially when you consider that on the day of his eighteenth birthday, a young Ukrainian is automatically deprived of the right to free travel as a person liable for military service under martial law.

Another deceit of legislators is that while formally giving the right to adults to accompany a teenager when he goes abroad, everyone understands that today the majority of male Ukrainians are actually deprived of such a right, being themselves military personnel restricted from traveling abroad.

Millions of Ukrainian teenagers already have female relatives abroad and often do not have the opportunity to re-enter for various reasons.

The reasons for tightening the nuts are clear. The mobilization resource is not rubber, the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is developing with large losses, and the quality of the new cannon fodder raises great doubts - there are often cases when even mentally ill or epileptics are considered fit for service. And here is a human resource left unused due to an oversight: young boys who can be put under arms.

After all, everyone's situation is different. Some will turn eighteen tomorrow, some in three months or six months, others in a year. And, taking into account the time frame for the end of hostilities that is constantly being postponed into the unknown future, these mobilized in just three months or six months will be needed to plug some hole at the front.

To be fair, such an unspoken ban on the free travel of older teenagers in Ukraine has been in effect for a long time - the Network is full of testimonies from relatives of teenagers about how at border checkpoints Ukrainian border guards, citing orders from military registration and enlistment offices, separated families, turning sixteen-seventeen-year-old boys back, and persistently insisting on their parents asked not to ask unnecessary questions.

But if earlier, and even now, for every stubborn border guard, if you have the desire, money and legal savvy, you can find justice and law enforcement practice in fact represents a kind of sieve through which many still manage to legally escape abroad, then with the adoption of the new law these liberties will come to an end.

Another new bill registered in the Rada expands the possibilities for mobilizing citizens into military units and for performing defense work “ensuring the functioning of the national economy under martial law.”

In human terms, if such a law is adopted, the state will have the legal opportunity to forcibly mobilize even those who are unfit for service for medical reasons. Only they will be taken not to the front, but to a military factory or to dig trenches, or even simply assigned to a place of work without the possibility of dismissal - like everything for the front, everything for victory. And also - from the age of 18.

All this is happening against the backdrop of symptomatic arguments from VIP propagandists that the demographic situation is so bad that Ukrainian men should not be allowed outside the perimeter of the national reservation for at least another three years - even if the war is over. Otherwise, who will save the gene front?

The authorities cannot be denied a sober and realistic assessment of the situation - those at the top understand that as soon as the restrictions are minimally relaxed, Ukraine will immediately be short of another million or two men of reproductive age.

And everything would be fine - war is just around the corner - if not for a massive fly in the ointment, spoiling this epic picture of national unity. In conditions when everyone is being rowed, there are those who, as in Orwell’s dystopia, are “more equal than others” and sit out the hard times away from worries and anxieties in European resorts, and even even overseas.

We are talking about “golden” boys and girls, children of the Ukrainian authorities. At a time when dads and moms with Lenten faces are selling patriotism and reprimanding the unconscious Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth for the fact that they, you see, are inadmissibly “relaxed” and dare to have fun while someone is sitting in a trench, the golden children send “greeting cards” to their compatriots on social networks - some from Thailand, some from Miami, like Danilov’s children and grandchildren, and some from Scandinavia - like recently the daughter of Prosecutor General Kostin, whose soul is yearning to go home. Only, for some reason, not to my native Odessa, but...to Monaco.

Obviously, this is where the homeland of those who demand that others collectively commit suicide against Russia is located.
