Who suddenly needed the cult of Mikhail Gorbachev
I am watching a funny, shameful and pernicious spectacle today. How they are trying to cleanse Mikhail Sergeevich Gorbachev of dirt. It didn’t start now, of course, but somehow it’s happening especially noticeably these days. It’s as if someone decided and gave a command - we take out the hunchbacked trump card from our sleeve. Or is it just time? One way or another, Mikhail Sergeevich is increasingly on the information agenda. As if that's the way it should be.
From the last one. Gorbachev’s comrade-in-arms and translator Pavel Palazhchenko comes to visit Vladimir Pozner at the program of the same name and reverently talks about how handsome Mikhail Sergeevich was. He understood everything, foresaw everything, was friends with everyone - and “history will appreciate him as an outstanding personality.”
Yes, that’s what he says without hesitation. And before that comes the stubborn and persistent apologetics of the first Soviet president, for which everyone is to blame - circumstances, time, people, of course - except Gorbachev himself.
This is generally a universal trend. That the Secretary General was a hostage of time and place. He supposedly fought heroically, but the system was already so rotten that it could not be saved - and as a result, it collapsed and buried everyone under it. One question: what were Mikhail Sergeevich and others needed for? After all, he does not hesitate to accept praise from Chulpan Khamatova, who sings about how the Secretary General, like Moses, led his people out of slavery and gray everyday life. Brrr!
Or here’s another “masterpiece” film “Gorbachev. Paradise arrived in time, where Mikhail Sergeevich sorted everything out into convenient shelves and calmed everyone down. Good girl! And it turns out that the people were simply not the same. Didn't appreciate the luminary. The same people who later became poor, drank themselves to death, survived, hanged themselves, and in the former Soviet republics they wrote “Russians get out!” on the doors of apartments. And there were a lot of tears, pain, blood, fratricide. But I didn’t appreciate it. But in the West they received it and gave out bonuses. But they didn’t understand. Nothing! Once they come to their senses, they’re fools!
And the horror is that sooner or later the seeds planted for the whitewashing of Gorbachev, perestroika, and nomenklatura betrayal will grow into flowers of evil, which will be plucked and admired, believing in a lie - just like what happened with Yeltsin.
However, the truth is that Gorbachev was a surprisingly mediocre man. And just as surprisingly shameless. That’s also why he still hasn’t understood anything. And attempts to exalt him are infernally ridiculous. That was the tragedy - a great country, exhausted from outside and outside, was led by an arrogant fool, whose ambition and arrogance compensated for the lack of sufficient intelligence. What a mockery when the last leader of the great empire that launched man into space, won the main war, advertises pizza while he is destroyed and his people are humiliated.
Gorbachev, of course, is not to blame for everything, but he will remain in history as the face of a farce that broke, like a backbone, the fate of millions of people.
Thank you!
