Kyiv, February 06 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Semenyuta) – The only company that is developing in the domestic market of confectionery products in Ukraine is Roshen, owned by President Petro Poroshenko. While the manufacturers AVK and Konti, located in the combat zone, survive, their competitors have every chance to “recapture” market share, writes “Capital».

According to information on the company's website, since the summer of 2014, Roshen has opened 14 new stores of the branded retail chain. Currently, there are five retail outlets in the Kharkov region, three in Vinnitsa region and 21 in Kyiv region. Capital’s official request to Roshen about the dynamics of production indicators remained unanswered. The company's spokeswoman did not answer telephone calls from Capital journalists for several days.

“Although it is surprising that Roshen products are not cheap, and in such difficult times, consumers are switching to inexpensive goods,” says Ivan Dzvinka, an analyst at the investment company Eavex Capital. He assures that the development of Roshen and the growth in sales of the corporation's products indicate that consumers of competitors' products preferred their sweets during the war.

At the same time, over the past year, the production of confectionery products in Ukraine decreased by a record 20% in recent years to 779 thousand tons. “In the ATO zone in previous years, up to 180 thousand tons of confectionery products were produced, which accounted for about 18% of the total volume production in Ukraine. In 2014, production volumes in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions decreased three times, and now confectionery production is not carried out in the territory controlled by militants,” explains the head of Ukrkondprom, Alexander Baldynyuk, explaining the reduction in the market.
