The European Parliament has blocked long-term plans for Turkey to join the European Union.

The corresponding decision was made today by European deputies, reports The Independent.
It is reported that 479 MEPs voted for the corresponding decision with 37 “against”, another 107 members of the European Parliament abstained. It should be noted that this decision was made against the backdrop of political repression by the Turkish authorities against the opposition and independent media after the attempted military coup in July 2016.
