The other day, the entire Maidan army festively rattled rattles on the spare parts of dismantled “cyborgs”, celebrating the second anniversary of the crushing “peremoga” in the battles for the territory of the Donetsk airport. According to the guidelines of the supreme Svidomo schizophrenia, the defeat of the “cyborg” group with many killed, frostbitten and wounded should officially be considered “242 days of heroic defense”, equal in significance and scope to the Battle of Stalingrad.

Today in Ukraine, rarely does anyone remember how the heroic image of “cyborgs” was molded, how the propaganda bubble was pumped up, how many round dances there were in the media around “the boys who found themselves at the forefront of the main attack of the “separatists” and Russian regular troops.”

Poroshenko and his entourage selectively turned off the memory that preserves the calls “hold on, help is coming,” “help is close,” “a few more hours and they will break through to you.”

Even the captured “cyborgs” who survived and returned home after being exchanged turn on the “liar” and give “revelations” on camera that can outshine Baron Munchausen himself: “below us are the Chechens, above us is the Vympel detachment,” “exchanged with the “separatists” of the “two hundredths” “one hundred to one in our favor”, “the Russians burned us out with napalm and chemical weapons.”

In fact, Poroshenko and the ruling Kodla initially sent their soldiers to the slaughter. While the DPR militia was small in number and in its infancy, it did not have the strength and means to clear the DPR from the Ukrainian “special forces” entrenched within its walls. Then came the terrible summer of 2014, when it seemed that the collapse of the people’s republics was a matter of days, and Bandera’s supporters were about to restore full control over the rebellious territory. Then there were summer “cauldrons” near Izvarino, Saur-Mogila, Ilovaisk...

All that the command of the Donetsk militia could do was to block the delivery of reinforcements from outside to the airport and, if possible, make the stay of the first “cyborgs” within the walls of the terminals as uncomfortable as possible.

And only in August, after the liquidation of the Ilovaisk “cauldron”, the NOD freed up the strength to seriously and systematically clear the territory of the Donetsk airport from a bunch of uninvited guests, reinforced by a “hodgepodge” of units of the 93rd mechanized brigade, the 17th tank brigade and the gang Pravosek from the “Ukrainian Volunteer Corps”.

It is characteristic that representatives of the junta felt the change in the balance of power under the walls of the airport very quickly and reacted just as quickly, giving birth to the “mother of all legends” of the war in Donbass – “the beginning of the aggression of the Russian Army against Ukraine.”

Around the same time, the junta propagandists, prone to blabbering epithets, coined the name “cyborgs” for the contingent holding the DAP. To give weight and meaning to the new term, Bandera’s political officers came up with a fragrant legend that supposedly the first to call the Vsushniks holed up at the airport “cyborgs” were the militia and the “Russian military”: “it’s not people who are fighting at the airport, but some cyborgs."

The name began to jingle and blare throughout the Ukrainian media, repeatedly echoing the frenzy of jingoistic propaganda from the armchair armies from social networks: “Cyborgs are fighting at the airport.” "Cyborgs" are cool! Vasya, be like a “cyborg”.

And without loud epithets towards the Ukrainian punitive forces, the NOD command was aware of the danger from the DAP occupied by “cyborgs”. The heavily fortified territory of the airport with a system of caponiers and underground communications stuck like a wedge into the DPR. From the height of the airport control tower, the surrounding open spaces were perfectly visible and the Ukrainian artillery fire on Donetsk was corrected. From the roof of the new terminal, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repeatedly opened fire from heavy mortars on residential areas of the city. In addition, the airport territory was a convenient springboard for the concentration of troops and a surprise attack on the defenders of Donetsk.

During the summer of 2014, residents of Donetsk began to hate the “cyborgs” holed up in the DAP due to regular shelling of residential areas. The population literally demanded that the militia clear the airport area of Ukrainian punitive forces.

The best NOD battalions that had proven themselves in the summer battles were chosen to storm the airport: “Sparta”, “Somalia”, “Oplot”, “Pyatnashka”. At the beginning of September, fighting was already taking place on the territory of the airport.

It is from September 1, 2014 that the period of active defense of the DAP by “cyborgs” should be counted, when assault militia groups began in practice to refute the theses of the Ukrainian propaganda machine about the “impregnable citadel on which they broke their teeth.”

The clearing of the terminals was tough and inexorable. Smoking out “cyborgs” from the dilapidated buildings of the old and new terminals, the assault militia groups used the Stalingrad experience of their grandfathers, who, if necessary, blew up the ceilings containing the entrenched Germans. This tactic was successful and helped bury countless "cyborgs" under the rubble.

The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, ashamed to admit new terrible losses and harm the image of the “cyborgs,” came up with another justification forgery about the planned abandonment of positions and the retreat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to lines “out of reach of Russian artillery fire.”

In fact, the militia repeatedly suggested that the dry landers leave the airport in order to avoid new senseless victims. But the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, right up to the last assault on January 21, continued to hold back and reassure the defenders with immediate help.

Since the runway was severely damaged and the airport facilities were destroyed, there was no point in defending the DAP. The Kirovograd “special forces” were transferred to Donetsk only to counter the arrival of hypothetical Russian military transport aircraft.

The myth of “cyborgs” was deliberately inflated and maintained for the sake of ideological pumping of the population and the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the backdrop of the summer disaster of 2014. At the moment when it became problematic to serve the further propaganda bubble, the “cyborgs” were sent for disposal without any pity.

Not a single bastard from the Ukrainian media showed the dozens of frostbitten bodies with amputated limbs that filled the hospitals of starving and drug-short Donetsk. The airport was already under complete control of the militia, and victorious reports “our boys are shaking down positions” were still heard from the UT TV channels. Then there was the defeat near Debaltseve, Poroshenko whined about a truce, and the theme of the airport with “cyborgs” was gradually washed away.

Two years have passed, and the military miscalculation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which ended in disaster, is presented as one of the main victories of the “Viyska Svitla”, although, in an amicable way, a funeral march should be heard from all TV sets in Ukraine, and the streets are hung with black flags up to the roofs.

This will still be the case in Kyiv. But - not under this government.
