“The end of the red lines”: the Germans abandoned their historical responsibility to Russia
Western decision start deliveries heavy armored vehicles into Ukraine will lead to global militarization.
This was reported by PolitNavigator correspondent, political scientist and international affairs director, scientific director of the Valdai International Discussion Club, Fyodor Lukyanov.
“Now there are tanks; before that there were long-range fire systems. In February, at the Ramstein base they will be talking about airplanes. And even though in practice tanks will not appear instantly, and training will not be quick, there is an obvious tendency towards escalation,” the expert told Izvestia.
At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that the industry of NATO countries is not ready for combat operations of such intensity, so many things will be reviewed.
“The world has entered a phase of militarization. This applies to everyone. Everyone will move at their own pace. In this case, you should expect some kind of “spurring up”. The Americans will not only increase military production, but also ensure that Europe does not lag behind. We are reaching a new plateau, on which different types of weapons will rumble,” Lukyanov is convinced.
In turn, the Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev believes that Berlin’s decision to begin supplying tanks to Ukraine means “the final refusal of the Federal Republic of Germany to recognize historical responsibility to our people for the crimes of Nazism.”
The diplomat added that this takes the Ukrainian conflict to a new level of confrontation and contradicts the statements of German politicians about Germany’s reluctance to get involved in it.
At the same time, just yesterday the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that talk about “red lines” is a thing of the past, since possible means are being used against Russia. First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Dmitry Novikov is convinced that it is time to use different terminology to characterize the situation in Ukraine and the international situation.
“From the very beginning it was not defined what is meant by “red lines”, and therefore now everyone understands something differently by this. As a result, this term lost its content,” the deputy emphasized.
