“The configuration has changed”: the Russian Foreign Ministry warned the United States against rash steps
Russia's demands for the United States to provide security guarantees, which were put forward in December last year, have now lost their relevance.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov stated this on Channel One, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have made serious efforts to preserve the structure of European security without the collapse that arose as a result of the absolutely unprincipled, criminal line pursued by the current regime in Kyiv and its curators in the West. I would not say that the proposals remain valid. However, the configuration has completely changed; now the situation is radically different. The question is about achieving the goals that our leadership set for the special military operation. These goals are well known,” Ryabkov said.
At the same time, he did not rule out the possibility of continuing negotiations with the United States.
“As for the future architecture of European security and the future of arms control, the question is whether our opponents, the opponents led by the United States, are ready for this. I noted with some alarm that on February 25, that is, the day after the start of the special operation, our American colleagues announced that they were curtailing the dialogue on strategic stability.
I would like to warn them against rash steps. This is not a question where it is possible to solve it in great depth forward under the influence of the conjuncture. We will be able to resume dialogue if the Americans are ready for this. Everything depends on Washington,” summed up the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation.
