The conflict between Ukraine and Hungary is gaining momentum

The head of the Ukrainian nationalist party “Freedom” Oleg Tyagnibok demanded the recall of the Ukrainian ambassador from Budapest.

The reason was the critical statements of the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Peter Szijjártó, regarding the repeal of the Kivalov-Kolesnichenko language law, which guaranteed respect for the rights of the Hungarian population of Transcarpathia.

As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, Szijjártó said that the Ukrainian government has launched a brutal attack on the languages of national minorities, which is unacceptable for a rule-of-law state: “The Ukrainian government has set itself two nationalist tasks - the first: so that national minorities cannot study, the second: so that there is no opportunity speak your native language."

In response to this, Tyagnibok said that Ukraine should harshly condemn Hungary’s attempt to interfere in its internal issues and recall the ambassador for consultations.

“The hysteria of the Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó is not just a gross interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine, it is a demonstration of disdain for the Ukrainian nation, which is building its own sovereign and independent state and lives by its own laws... The Hungarian Foreign Ministry is not just telling us what rules to live, but also discredits Ukraine for establishing legality, constitutionality and eliminating falsifications and, together with the Moscow aggressor, acts against the Ukrainian people,” writes Tyagnibok.
