Confusion: Poroshenko prematurely congratulated Ukrainians on visa-free travel to Thailand
Ukrainian tourists were warned that the visa-free regime with Thailand does not yet work, because the Thai side is still implementing the preparatory measures necessary to implement this decision.
The Ukrainian Embassy in Thailand announced this on Facebook after President Petro Poroshenko announced the introduction by the Thai government of a visa-free regime for Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The long period of negotiations on visa liberalization between Ukraine and the Kingdom of Thailand brought an important result: the Thai government decided to abolish visa requirements for Ukrainian citizens arriving in Thailand for tourism purposes for up to 30 days. Over the coming weeks, the Thai side will carry out the preparatory measures necessary to implement this decision,” the embassy said.
The Ukrainian diplomatic mission noted that “they will inform additionally about the specific date for the introduction of a visa-free regime for Ukrainian tourists.”
At the same time, earlier today Petro Poroshenko congratulated the Ukrainians on the decision to grant visa-free travel to another country – Thailand.
“Congratulations on the introduction by the Thai government of a visa-free regime for Ukraine! From now on, Ukrainian citizens will be able to travel to this country without wasting time on visa formalities for tourism purposes for up to 30 days,” the president said earlier.
