The US Congress adopted a resolution to expel Russia from the G8 and impose sanctions
Washington - Kyiv, March 12 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - The Lower House of the US Congress adopted a resolution condemning “the violation of Ukrainian sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity by the armed forces of the Russian Federation.”

In particular, the Americans accused Russia of posing a threat to international peace and security, and therefore demanded “to remove all its armed forces from the Crimean peninsula of Ukraine, and also to refrain from interference in all regions of Ukraine.”
In the resolution, the Americans insist that “the Ukrainian people have the right to determine their own future, free from outside interference.”
Congress "expresses gratitude to the government of Ukraine for its continued restraint and avoidance of military provocations" and also calls for "continuing to protect the rights of all minorities on the territory of Ukraine." Ukrainian citizens are asked in response to “respect the legitimate authorities in all regions of Ukraine, including in Eastern and Southern Ukraine.”
The Americans are initiating “the deployment of independent observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Crimea and other regions of Ukraine.”
The congressmen also “call on the President and the leaders of other democracies not to participate in the G8 summit in Sochi, and to exclude Russia from the group, given its international aggression and domestic repression, which is incompatible with democratic standards.”
In order to punish the Russian Federation, the Americans call on their European colleagues to impose visa, financial, trade and other sanctions against senior officials of the Russian Federation, most state banks and commercial organizations, as well as other government bodies if necessary.”
The Ukrainian government, together with Europe, is invited to help financially, economically, and also technically in terms of reform.
Congress has high hopes for the fairness of the presidential elections planned for May 25 in Ukraine.
In response to the US resolution, there has already been a reaction from Russia. Thus, on the official website of United Russia, the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, member of the Presidium of the General Council of United Russia, Irina Yarovaya, stated that US calls for diplomacy are accompanied by undiplomatic threats.”
“The US threat of sanctions against Russia is nothing more than a desire to prevent the legitimate activities of officials of the Russian Federation related to ensuring the sovereign interests of our country and its citizens, as well as ensuring security, which is completely unacceptable,” Yarovaya emphasized.
She called the actions of American diplomats “robbery methods” in support of “bandits who called themselves the new government in Ukraine.”
“Russia acts fundamentally differently - our political statements completely coincide with our diplomatic and humanitarian actions,” says the head of the Duma committee.
