Presidential elections will take place in Ukraine in less than 200 days: analytical project “Favorite” we figure out why Petro Poroshenko is unlikely to retain his post, and we also get to know his likely successors.

Why don't Ukrainians trust Poroshenko?

Petro Poroshenko took advantage of the confusion of 2014 better than others: compared to other politicians, he did not make radical statements - on the contrary, he promised to stop military operations in Donbass “in a matter of hours.” Against the backdrop of unfulfilled promises and a sharp deterioration in the economic situation of the population, Poroshenko’s income over the past 4 years has increased multiple times, as a result - the popular support rating has collapsed from 55% to 7%.

The bookmaker Betcity estimates the chances of the current president as 3 to 1 (about the same as Anatoly Gritsenko). Reviews about the Betcity bookmaker's office indicate that the analysts of this company can be trusted. The coefficient for Yulia Tymoshenko is 2.29 (that is, she will win the election with a probability of 43%).

Yuriy Boyko

Indicative is the moment with the audience voting in 2018 live on the Zik TV channel, when 2/3 of those who spoke named Yanukovych the best president in the history of Ukraine. And if at the moment it is not possible for Viktor Fedorovich to get to his homeland, then the chances of the leader of the Opposition bloc are already higher than those of the current head of state. At the moment, the politician’s rating is 8,5%, and 4 years ago it was at the level of statistical error. Boyko, who owns a number of large industrial enterprises, has the support of the population of the southeast of the country, as well as the vector for establishing relations with the leadership of the Russian Federation.

Anatoly Gritsenko

Over the past 3 years, the ratings of both the political party “Civic Position” and its head, Anatoly Gritsenko, have almost tripled and are currently approaching 10%. This politician was educated in the USA, was twice a Member of the Verkhovna Rada, and also served as Minister of Defense of Ukraine for 3 years. During his professional career, Gritsenko has shown himself to be a qualified diplomat, has never been involved in political intrigues or scandals, and his political force declares the principles of liberal democracy.

Yulia Tymoshenko

According to sociological research, the most experienced female politician in Ukraine has the best high chances of winning (14%). In her election program, Tymoshenko emphasizes gradual economic development, as well as support for small and medium-sized businesses. For Yulia Vladimirovna, who in the last two presidential races was second only to Yanukovych and Poroshenko, the 2019 elections will certainly be her last chance to take the main leadership post.
