Conspiracy did not help: a terrorist in Crimea is sent to jail for 20 years
A member of the terrorist group Hizb ut-Tahrir will go to jail in Crimea.
PolitNavigator was informed about this by the Russian FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
“The Southern Military District Court sentenced a 47-year-old resident of the Republic of Crimea, accused of committing crimes under Part 1 of Art. 205.5 (organizing the activities of a terrorist organization) and Part 1 of Art. 30, art. 278 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (preparation for a violent seizure of power). It was established that the Crimean was the organizer of the activities of the local cell of the banned terrorist organization “Islamic Liberation Party” (“Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami”), the report says.
The terrorist determined the goals and objectives of the cell, held secret meetings to study the terrorist organization, conducted propaganda work among the population, determined conspiracy measures and monitored their compliance.
“At meetings held by the organizer of the cell, intentions were discussed to change the political system and government structure of the Russian Federation with the help of propaganda, as well as waging war against opponents of the ideas of the terrorist organization,” the FSB clarified.
As a result, the Southern Military District Court found the terrorist guilty and sentenced him to 20 years in prison in a maximum security penal colony. He will have to serve the first five years in prison.
