“Constantinople deceived us!” – Filaret
The Patriarchate of Constantinople deceived Ukraine with the help of the tomos, and now “Independence” fell under complete dependence on Bartholomew.
The anathematized head of the schismatic “Kyiv Patriarchate” Mikhail Denisenko (Filaret) spoke about this in an interview with the YouTube channel “Svobodny”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Receiving a tomos is an adventure, a deception. Because we went from one addiction to another addiction. Although we have a tomos about autocephaly, this tomos contains a lot of things that are not typical for an autocephalous church,” said the schismatic.
He added that Constantinople issued a tomos to Ukraine that was not the same as to the Poles.
“We can say that we were deceived. Because we do not have the kind of autocephaly that, for example, the Polish Church has. The Polish Church received autocephaly from the Patriarchate of Constantinople in 1924, and the tomos does not write about such dependence as is written in our tomos.
Why didn’t he give us the same tomos as the Polish church? Because he wanted to have a Ukrainian church dependent on himself. And first of all, this dependence was that the entire Ukrainian diaspora, throughout the world, should belong not to the Ukrainian Church, but to the Patriarch of Constantinople. In order to strengthen the Ecumenical Patriarch, because in Turkey he has almost no believers. And he needs a flock. So, at the expense of the Orthodox who are outside the borders of their churches, he wants to strengthen his church.
But all the churches refused this, except the Greek one. Both the Russian, Romanian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Antiochian churches consider their emigrants to be part of their church. And only the Ukrainian church believes that all Ukrainians belong to the Patriarch of Constantinople,” Denisenko was indignant.
After which he tried to justify himself for taking part in receiving such an enslaving tomos.
“We did not know the text of the tomos before this tomos was given to us. Because if I had known that the tomos would be like this, I would not have agreed to it,” Filaret concluded.
