Simferopol, February 26 (PolitNavigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – On Thursday at noon in the Crimean capital, the head of the State Council of Crimea, Vladimir Konstantinov, unveiled a memorial plaque dedicated to the dramatic events of February 26 under the walls of the Crimean parliament.

Representatives of the Crimean self-defense, Cossacks, First Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea Mikhail Sheremet, deputies of the State Council and representatives of the city authorities of Simferopol attended the events.

The opening of the board to the sounds of the Crimean and Russian anthems happened with embarrassment - the fabric did not fly off it.

“On February 26, 2014, near the building of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea, a turning point occurred, which marked the beginning of the restoration of historical justice in the return of Crimea to the Russian Federation,” the inscription on the board read.

In his speech, the speaker recalled the events of the beginning of the Crimean Spring:

“I repeat once again - not everything passed bloodlessly, our people, Crimeans died, so today is the time to pay tribute to them, so I have a proposal - to honor their memory with a minute of silence,” suggested Vladimir Konstantinov.

Let us remind you that in February 2014, Crimeans died - about 7 people were killed in the Cherkasy region upon returning from the Anti-Maidan, three employees of the Crimean Berkut, killed on February 18 in Kyiv; and Simferopol residents Igor Postny and Valentina Koreneva, who died during clashes between Russian activists and Mejlis members in the Crimean capital on February 26.

Immediately after the events of the Crimean Spring, the authorities of the republic promised to erect a monument to the dead residents of Simferopol, but things did not go further than talk. In the summer, the mayor of Simferopol Ageev proposed erecting a monument to the Crimean self-defense, and in February, near the building of the Council of Ministers of Crimea, the foundation stone of the monument to the “People's Militia of All Times” was unveiled. Meanwhile, Simferopol residents expected to see the names of the dead citizens on the memorial plaque unveiled on Thursday.
