The politician stated this at the opening of the parliament session.
According to Konstantinov, the presidential elections in Ukraine, which took place on May 25, are illegitimate, and the rhetoric of the newly elected head of state Petro Poroshenko was “dictated by the West.”
“With clumsy haste, NATO, EU, OSCE and the US administration recognized the elections as legal and democratic. And this despite the fact that the legally elected President Viktor Yanukovych, whose powers expire only in 2015, was removed from power through an armed unconstitutional coup, that presidential candidates did not receive equal opportunities for election campaigns, and some of them were subjected to attacks and physical violence “, noted the speaker.
In his opinion, Poroshenko’s assumption of office will not bring peace to Ukraine and de-escalate the situation in the South-East.
“Alas, the first statements of the chocolate king as head of state do not inspire hope for this. The bellicose rhetoric includes calls for harsh reprisals against dissent in the south-eastern regions of the country, where civilians are dying, and the newly appointed hetman coordinates his every step with the “Washington regional committee,” added Vladimir Konstantinov.
